Job Description Job Description Position Title: House Parent Job Type: Full-time Salaried Position Department: Programs – Basic Care Supervisor: Administrator of Programs/Executive Vice President of Programs Major/Essential Duties of the Job: Responsible for working with spouse as a team to provide direct care to the children residing at Hendrick Home for Children. Organizational Duties and Responsibilities 1. Support the mission, vision, and philosophy of Hendrick Home for Children. 2. Compliance with all organizational policies and procedures. 3. Support all functions that maintain compliance with regulatory agencies. 4. Support positive interaction with others by exhibiting maturity, respect, confidentiality, and a team-centered approach. 5. Exhibit effective communication skills. 6. Participate and demonstrate competency in required professional development and training programs. 7. Report abuse or potential abuse involving children to the appropriate supervisor. 8. Promote a physically safe and emotionally healthy environment for children. 9. Supervise children and children's activities in accordance with applicable regulations. 10. Serve as a role model for children in the areas of ethics, morals, compassion, cleanliness, appearance, spirituality, and lifestyle principles. 11. Maintain required records including receipts, logs, incident reports and menu reports. 12. Administer prescribed or approved medication in accordance with physician's direction and update medication log. 13. Attend and participate in administrative/staff/committee meetings as assigned. 14. Provide discipline or intervention for children using approved techniques. Supervisory Relationship Executive Vice President of Programs and Administrator of Programs. Educational Requirements High school diploma or GED is required. College hours or previous direct childcare experience strongly preferred. General Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be legally married. Must have no more than 2 children living in residence. Must reside on campus in housing provided. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and be eligible for coverage on the company auto policy CPR and First Aid certification are required. Must meet regulations for annual childcare training. Must meet state requirement for criminal history background check Must read, write, and converse in English Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, children, families, and support agencies. Visual and auditory supervision of children is required including ability to respond to visual and auditory stimulation Job Specific Duties Live-in supervision of children Attend church with children Meal preparation Purchasing clothing Supervise personal hygiene of children Transportation of children to school and appointments Assist children with homework and attend school activities and functions Maintain clean units and supervise children’s cleaning and chores Company Description Hendrick Home for Children raises children in a safe and loving Christian environment that provides an atmosphere of spiritual, physical, emotional and intellectual growth.
