Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description
The General Production Worker supports a busy steel manufacturing operation by performing a variety of general labor tasks related to the production of counterweights and steel products. This role focuses on safely unloading products from machines, preparing materials for shipment, and assisting with material handling to keep production running smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Assist with general labor tasks involved in manufacturing counterweights and steel products.
Unload finished or semi-finished product from machines in a safe and efficient manner.
Prepare products for shipment, including staging, organizing, and basic packaging as required.
Support material handling activities, such as moving steel and other materials to and from production areas.
Use basic measurement tools to verify product dimensions and quality where needed.
Operate or assist with machine operation as directed, following established procedures.
Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures at all times.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area in a heavy steel manufacturing environment.
Work overtime as needed, typically at least 5 additional hours per week, to support production demands.
Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues with materials, equipment, or safety to the appropriate personnel.
Essential Skills
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 50+ pounds throughout the shift.
Willingness to work overtime, with at least 5 additional hours per week as needed.
Comfort working in a heavy steel manufacturing environment that may be dirty and not well lit.
Basic familiarity with machine operation in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Ability to assist with construction-style and assembly-related tasks.
Ability to use measurement tools to check product dimensions when required.
Commitment to following all safety policies and procedures consistently.
Reliable attendance and ability to work any of the available shifts (day, afternoon, or night).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.
Experience in a steel, fabrication, construction, or industrial environment is a plus.
Comfort working around a mix of new and older manufacturing equipment.
Ability to work effectively as part of a production team in a large facility.

Work Environment
This role is based in a heavy steel manufacturing facility in Youngstown that produces counterweights and a variety of steel products and raw materials for multiple industries and applications. The environment is physically demanding, dirty, and not well lit, with a mix of new and older equipment in use across the production floor. The workforce includes more than 50 full-time employees and roughly 120 people in production, including both full-time and temporary staff. Shifts operate on a rotating schedule with options such as 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, and 10:30 PM–7:00 AM. Team members work around heavy steel, large machinery, and material handling equipment, and are expected to follow strict safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Youngstown, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
