Cafe Staff Position

Part time position Up to 20 hours a week. Morning/afternoon availability Monday-Thursday and flexibility on weekends. Hourly Rate $17.00 an hour.

Role Summary: All cafe employees function as cashiers, baristas, and food handlers. Primary duties include: making drinks using an espresso machine, food preparation, cleaning, customer service, grocery-shopping, and training volunteers.

Primary Areas of Responsibility: Primary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to the following:

• Help create a positive and welcoming environment for guests and the cafe team.
• Occasionally spend approximately 1 hour on Saturdays making eggs.
• Prepare brunch food and make espresso-based beverages.
• Open and operate the cash register, quickly and accurately distribute change, and balance the drawer at the end of shift.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized workstation and dining area.
• Open and close the cafe, thoroughly cleaning equipment, in an efficient manner.
• Assist manager with weekly grocery runs and receiving/unpacking deliveries.
• Train and lead volunteers in manager's absence, including leading a 15-minute prayer huddle.
• Abide by health and food safety protocols and ONE&ALL Cafe-specific protocols.
• Adhere to recipes and presentations of food and beverage items while remaining flexible to change.
• Complete weekly inventory and deep-cleaning tasks.
• Attend monthly 1:1 meetings with the supervisor.
• Work staff meetings and special events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Regularly stand, walk, talk and hear.
• To use hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 10-60 pounds.
• Handle food and hot beverages.
• Small cafe, tight working area close to other co-workers.
• Moderate to loud noise when lots of customers are around.

Requirements:

• Required: Committed, practicing disciple of Jesus Christ
• Required: At least 1 year of barista experience
• Required: Passionate about people, coffee, and the vision of the cafe ministry
• Preferred: Restaurant experience, ability to drive for grocery shopping as needed
• Able to work efficiently, calmly, and joyfully amidst high-pressure situations
• Excellent customer service & interpersonal skills
• Outstanding work ethic
• Friendly and outgoing demeanor
• Basic numeracy and money-handling skills
• Highly teachable and adaptable
