Senior Project Delivery Engineer – Chicago, IL – Unilever Job Purpose Senior Project Delivery (SPDE) role exists to manage the end‑to‑end delivery of site capital projects for our Hellman’s Mayonnaise factory in Chicago. The projects will be based on a wide range of safety, quality, infrastructure, savings, and equipment improvements across many technologies and functional areas including process, packaging, utilities and land/buildings. SPDE will contribute in ongoing development and delivery of site investment masterplan and provide technical support to the day‑to‑day and reliability activities. You’ll be part of a team that believes in doing work that matters – for people and the planet. Key Responsibilities Organized and detail oriented to deliver projects respecting safety, product quality, project timing, and cost. Support full‑time staff and hired contractors to execute projects. Take a leadership role over a portion of the capital project portfolio on the site. Lead improvement projects in a fast‑moving environment with many stakeholders, requiring independent decision‑making, constructive collaboration, managing expectations, and navigating tradeoffs for our customers (the factory). Responsible for cost estimating, analyzing options, building business cases, critiquing designs, managing construction, installation, commissioning, and handover with minimal supervision. Lead other activities in safety, quality, and continuous improvement programs as a member of management in the factory. Act as a site expert on food processing, packaging, and energy and utilities management. Lead the standardization and development of the plant masterplan for packaging, process, grounds, and utilities. Serve as a technical resource to the category engineering team for new products and re‑stages (innovation and renovation), and a resource for factory continuous improvement programs. Participate in cross‑plant improvement teams, develop strong partnership with plant manufacturing, continuous improvement, corporate engineering and union workforce. Support root cause analysis for both manufacturing and reliability teams. Bring new Ways of Working to the Engineering community in pursuit of excellence in change management, early equipment management, and vertical startup. Execute projects by delivering the best value without compromising any values. Deliver on time, in full (OTIF) end‑to‑end delivery of multiple capital projects (typical value $0.1m–2million per project) adhering to Unilever project management standards while ensuring safety is our number one priority. Required Qualifications Education: BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree. Experience: 3+ years of Engineering in FMCG / related Industry or gained in an engineering consultancy environment. End‑to‑end project management/engineering, maintenance, or continuous improvement experience with food processing and/or utilities systems in manufacturing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; along with the ability to negotiate. Preferred Qualifications First‑hand experience delivering major capital projects ($2+million) within FMCG environment. 5+ years of Project Engineering in FMCG / related Industry or gained in an engineering consultancy environment. Pay and Benefits Pay: The pay range for this position is $86,080 to $129,120. Bonus: This position is bonus eligible. Long‑Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
