Marshfield Clinic – Marshfield Children’s is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for our Outpatient Surgical Services department, working day shift. In this role, you will provide high-quality, family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients and their families before and after surgical and procedural interventions in an ambulatory setting. You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and coordinate care across the surgical continuum, including pre-operative teaching, intra-procedural support, and post-anesthesia recovery and discharge preparation. The RN collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, advanced practice providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and evidence-based surgical care. Responsibilities include medication administration, IV therapy, pain and symptom management, monitoring of vital signs and patient status, rapid recognition and response to changes in condition, and accurate documentation in the electronic health record. The RN will support patient and family education regarding procedures, post-operative care, medications, and follow-up needs, using developmentally appropriate communication and a compassionate, patient-first approach. As part of a collaborative, integrated health system, you will participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection prevention practices, patient safety efforts, and standardization of care protocols for pediatric outpatient surgery. You will contribute to continuous improvement by following best practices, engaging in ongoing clinical education, and sharing feedback to improve workflows and patient outcomes. The role requires strong critical thinking skills, proficiency in pediatric assessment, comfort with outpatient surgical workflows, and the ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment while maintaining calm, reassuring interactions with children and families. You will work closely with colleagues to support teamwork, cross-coverage, and effective communication during pre-op, procedure, and recovery phases, while upholding Marshfield Clinic Health System’s values of compassion, integrity, and excellence.
