Role Description

This full-time, on-site Medical Physicist role is located in the Providence, RI region. The Medical Physicist will perform treatment planning and dosimetry calculations, ensuring accurate and safe delivery of radiation therapy in collaboration with radiation oncologists and dosimetrists. Daily responsibilities include calibrating and commissioning radiation therapy equipment, performing routine quality assurance on linear accelerators and imaging systems, and monitoring radiation safety for patients, staff, and the public. The role also involves reviewing and approving treatment plans, verifying patient-specific QA, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and documenting all physics activities. The Medical Physicist will participate in process improvement, support technology upgrades, and provide education to clinical staff on physics and radiation safety practices.

Qualifications

Candidates must have current, unrestricted authorization to work in the United States at the time of application.
  • Candidates should possess strong expertise in Medical Physics and Physics, with a solid understanding of the principles underlying radiation therapy.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Treatment Planning and Dosimetry to develop, review, and optimize radiation treatment plans for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Candidates should possess comprehensive Radiation Safety knowledge to ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to regulatory and institutional guidelines.
  • Master’s or PhD in Medical Physics, Physics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a CAMPEP-accredited residency or equivalent clinical training in radiation oncology physics preferred.
  • Board eligibility or certification (e.g., ABR or ABMP in Therapeutic Medical Physics) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with treatment planning systems, linear accelerators, image-guided radiation therapy, and QA tools in a clinical setting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Willingness to support occasional extended hours or on-call responsibilities as needed for clinical operations.

· Linear accelerator commissioning

· Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT)

· Adaptive radiation therapy workflows

· Experience with Eclipse, Mosaiq, Aria, or similar systems
