Job Description We are seeking an experienced
Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty waste and sanitation vehicles. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant with DOT regulations while supporting daily operations.

Pay: $25.00 per hourKey Responsibilities:Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication, tire rotations, and brake adjustments
- Conduct inspections to identify potential mechanical issues before they become major repairs
Diagnostics & Repairs
- Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, steering, suspension, and brake systems
- Utilize diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment to identify and resolve equipment failures
- Repair and rebuild components as needed
Hydraulic & Specialized Equipment Maintenance
- Service and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, hoses, motors, and pneumatic systems
- Maintain and repair refuse truck packer bodies and related equipment
Safety & Compliance
- Perform safety inspections and complete repairs identified through Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
- Ensure all equipment meets DOT and OSHA requirements
- Follow company safety procedures and best practices
Documentation & Inventory
- Complete work orders, maintenance records, and repair documentation
- Order parts and assist with inventory management
- Track labor hours, repairs completed, and materials used
Emergency Service
- Respond to road calls and equipment breakdowns as needed
- Diagnose and repair equipment in the field when possible
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum of 3 years of heavy-duty diesel truck maintenance experience
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, hoses, and hydraulic systems
- Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems using diagnostic software
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to work safely in shop and field environments
