Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Firewall Architect to join our Digital Technology team within Firewall Management and Network Security in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience in firewall and network administration, with a strong emphasis on hands-on firewall management, particularly with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA. This role involves maintaining and upgrading firewalls, implementing configuration changes, assessing impacts, and ensuring robust security operations across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments. Proficiency in technical documentation, network architecture, and experience with various network monitoring and security tools are essential.


Key Responsibilities:

• Perform firewall administration, including maintenance, upgrades, testing, and implementation of configuration changes.
• Manage and configure Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.
• Administer Cisco ASA firewalls, routers, switches, and Check Point firewalls.
• Oversee router and switch administration.
• Handle operations and security in AWS and Microsoft Azure using Palo Alto Prisma.
• Develop and update technical documentation, such as network architecture diagrams, security plans, and risk assessments (Visio proficiency required).
• Create, manage, and resolve incident/change tickets in ServiceNow (SNOW).
• Utilize network monitoring tools, AAA platforms, logging, configuration, and other system monitoring tools.
• Generate and leverage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Investigate Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) alerts.
• Adhere to Payment Card Industry (PCI) principles and best practices.
• Apply ITIL principles in problem and change management, including reporting and tracking trends.
• Provide effective written and verbal communication.
• Maintain daytime on-call status.

• 12+ years in firewall and network administration with a strong emphasis on firewalls.
• Hands-on experience with firewall administration, particularly with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA.
• Experience with AWS and Microsoft Azure security operations.
• Strong knowledge of firewall management and cybersecurity principles.
• Proficiency in technical documentation and network architecture (Visio experience required).
• Experience with ServiceNow (SNOW) and network monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with IDS/IPS and PCI principles.
• Understanding of ITIL principles and experience with problem and change management.

• Palo Alto professional security-related certifications or equivalent.
