Position Summary:

Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy for the patients at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. Participate in the development and implementation of the Food Service Department’s Quality Control and Performance Improvement programs.

Responsibilities

Position Accountabilities:

1. Demonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to all applicable professional and regulatory practices, State and Federal regulations, Policies and Procedures of San Ramon Regional Medical Center, and Tenet Corporation.

2. Independently completes assignments, duties, responsibilities, and commitments of the job. Excellent follow-through.

3. Consistently manages a fair work load.

4. Follows Infection Control Guidelines to ensure Safe Food Service. Includes proper hand washing, hair covering, uniform, personal hygiene and sanitary procedures.

5. Assures that the rights of all patients are respected with dignity, with privacy and confidentiality provided at all times.

6. Modify and calculate therapeutic diets with attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.

7. Committed to increasing patient satisfaction, ensuring commitments to patients are met.

8. Participate in the planning of Diet Office related systems and policies.

9. Keep updated on new departmental changes and meetings by reviewing postings in the kitchen as well as in the Diet Office Book.

10. Able to independently handle changes and new procedures.

11. Have working knowledge of computer system.

12. Work in collaboration with other dietary staff, using effective oral and communication skills. Assist in the Diet Office.

13. Participate in department Quality Control and Performance Improvement Programs as directed by the Clinical Dietitian and/or Dietary Services Director.

14. Assist with quality improvement projects, including development, plan, implementation, and training of staff.

15. Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy for inpatients, including screening, assessments, reassessments, and education.

16. Organizes and prioritizes workload to achieve key goals.

17. Organizes work to improve output and minimize rework.

18. Shows attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.

19. Makes good decisions in a timely manner, considering the impact of the decisions.

20. Provides manager with useful feedback.

21. Demonstrates evidence of continuing professional development.

22. Independently identifies opportunities for improvement, initiates a plan, and follows the project through to completion.

23. Assume other duties or assignments as designated by the Food Service Director and the Clinical Nutrition Manager.

24. Accountable for maintaining a good record of attendance and punctuality, utilizing the time clock for hours worked independently. Includes avoiding missed meal periods and overtime.

25. Conducts all hospital business within the highest standard of ethical behavior, adhering to SRRMC Behavior Standards. Complies with SRRMC Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.

26. Able to remain balanced and even-tempered in challenging situations.

27. Expresses and accepts feedback in a professional manner. Demonstrates flexibility and open-mindedness.

28. Maintains required departmental in-service requirements and staff meetings. Independently completes .edu’s and other required hospital education by the due date.

29. Demonstrates prudent resource management, protecting hospital resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment.

30. Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the professional environment.

31. Access MyTenet weekly for department, hospital, and company updates and changes.

32. Completes .edu’s and other required hospital education by the due date.

33. Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.

34. Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree with internship requirements established by the Commission of Dietetic Registration

Minimum Experience/Skills: 

One (1) year working as a Registered Dietitian in the past six (6) years

Fluent in written and spoken English

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and staff

Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:

Current Registration with the Commission of Dietetic Registration
