Barista/Cafe Staff

Join the team at Eastside Food Co-op, in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis! We're looking for team members who are visionary, hard-working and committed to community building!

*PM and Weekend Availability Required*

PURPOSE:

Baristas provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean and stocked department, and are positive contributors to the Beverage Bar team. Baristas prepare consistent and delicious made-to-order coffees, smoothies, and juices. Baristas participate in activities such as prep work, processing payments, and maintaining a fully stocked and clean department. Baristas follow all established procedures, working both independently and as a team to achieve department goals.

ALL CO-OP STAFF WILL:

  • Use all available tools and resources in order to provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service to all customers, coworkers, and vendors
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with everyone you encounter while at work
  • Adhere to all store and department policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate regular, predictable good attendance
  • Attend huddles and meetings as scheduled
  • Commit to contributing to a positive, team-building work environment

BARISTAS STAFF WILL:

  • Accurately execute all co-op beverage recipes as ordered by shoppers or assigned by a supervisor, including but not limited to coffee beverages, smoothies, and fresh juices
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and stocked dining area
  • Ring purchases efficiently and accurately.
  • Use the correct prices and codes, and ring items under the correct department and owner number.
  • Know and understand Eastside's procedures for handling all forms of payment.
  • Properly label, store, and rotate all beverage bar product
  • Participate in dishwashing of beverage bar items and equipment
  • Safely and properly operate and maintain all beverage bar equipment
  • Receive and store product orders as directed
  • Maintain a fully stocked and clean department
  • Responsibly fulfill all food safety requirements
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the deli leads, assistant manager or department manager

  • The ability to work with limited and no supervision

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and walking for extended periods of time per shift
  • Repetitive bending and lifting of loads, not to exceed 50 pounds
  • Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation
