Part-Time, $41.00/hour. Note: This is a Grant‑funded Position through Adult Education, Non‑union position Position Schedule Administrator #1: Monday and Wednesday evenings Administrator #2: Tuesday and Thursday evenings Hours: 5:00PM-9:00PM Part i – Summary Of Classification This non‑bargaining position is accountable for implementing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment within the Waterbury Adult Education evening program. This Adult Education Evening Program Administrator ensures that the provided instruction meets and exceeds the State curricula content standards in achieving high levels of academic performance. This requires that the Adult Education Evening Program Administrator work collaboratively with the Adult Education Director to lead school staff and to communicate effectively with students, members of the community, and colleagues to support evening Adult Education programming and offerings. Incumbent must have thorough knowledge of the diverse needs of inner city socio‑economic culture; demonstrate excellent leadership and organizational skills and ability to motivate people; demonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and learning assessment and diagnosis. EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires teaching certificate as issued by the State of Connecticut Department of Education #092 Administrator Certificate as issued by the State of Connecticut Department of Education Service as a teacher within an Adult Education environment/setting required and/or familiarity with Adult Education professional practices and standards C – Licensures, Certifications And Other Requirements Incumbents in this class may be required to possess a current CT Motor Vehicle Class D Operator License.

PART III – POSITION SUPERVISES

Adult Education Evening Program Administrator leads evening Adult Education programs and corresponding staff in collaboration with and at the direction of the Adult Education Director/Principal Part IV – Essential Functions The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties. Promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior. Implement the procedures for operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of Waterbury Adult Education; assist the Adult Education Principal/Director in the development of course matrix/scheduling. Assist the Adult Education Principal/Director in supervising the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials. Ensure that the instructional programs engage the learner in tasks that require analytical and critical thinking, questioning the known, problem solving and creativity, and that they address each student's needs, interests, and skill levels. Promote a learning environment among teachers that encourage the student to define individual goals and accept responsibility for learning. Monitor instructional programs for evidence of opportunities for students to demonstrate performance and accomplishments. Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of Waterbury Adult Education, in accordance with due process, ensuring a safe, orderly environment that encourages students to fulfill their potential. Assist the Adult Education Director/Principal in all required reporting regarding violence, accidents, attendance, and discipline matters. Establish a professional rapport with students and staff that earns their respect. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, school personnel, and agencies associated with the school. Serve as a role model for students, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession. Assist the Adult Education Director/Principal in supervising all certified and non-certified personnel assigned to Waterbury Adult Education to ensure that all job responsibilities are met and exceeded. Conduct personnel evaluations in a fair and consistent manner that encourages accountability, growth, and excellence. Maintain visibility with students, staff, and community. Attend/conduct staff meetings and serve as a potential member of all committees within the Adult Education program. Other duties as assigned.
